Experts from international consortium have gathered in Tartu to draft transnational smart specialisation directions for Baltic Sea region countries. The analysis has shown that the biggest potential for cooperation is in the areas of biotechnology, health and nutrition, IRT, mobility and circular economy. ‘We are looking for common points of interaction for Baltic Sea region to complement each other thus enhancing region’s competitiveness. At the same time, we are trying to create an open smart specialisation, where all innovative SMEs from Lithuania and other Baltic Sea region would find their way into international value chains’, says Tautvydas Pipiras, the consultant at Lithuanian Innovation Centre. Lithuanian Innovation Centre is a part of international consortium for strengthening smart specialisation by fostering transnational cooperation – GoSmart BSR, which aims at creating functioning and sustainable Transnational Innovation Brokerage System and SMEs Joint Smart Strategies implemented across partner regions.
